In Nokia Lumia 520 LCD is connected the the motherboard with a flex cable connector. If your LCD is not working, you obviously have to check if a faulty LCD is not causing this problem. If the LCD is okay then check the LCD connector.
LCD connectors in Nokia Lumia 520 or any other mobile phones for that matter are a little fragile. They can get damaged because of many reasons. Most of the times LCD connectors get damaged because of poorly connecting and disconnecting LCD or if your mobile phone get water damaged they can easily get rusted and as soon as you unplug the LCD they crack.
Replace the LCD connector if you think it’s damaged. I have also marked all of the Nokia Lumia 520 LCD connector jumper ways in the diagram below. Only make the jumper if the connection prints are damaged.

Leg number 1, 4, 7, 10, 14, 15, 18 are marked with black jumper lines, they are all ground. 2nd leg is connected to the bottom leg of Z1354., 3rd leg of LCD connector is connected to the upper leg of Z1354. 5th leg is connected to the bottom leg of Z1355, 6th leg is connected to the upper leg of Z1355. 8th leg is connected to the bottom leg of Z1356, 9th leg of the LCD connector is connected to the upper leg of Z1356.
11th leg is connected to C1366, 12th leg is connected to C1365, 13th leg is connected to C1364. 16th leg is connected to C1350, 17th leg is connected to C1352. 19th leg is connected to R1356, final 20th leg is connected to R1357.
